Flea has been asking for a dog since she was three.
One of my fondest memories is this letter that she made me when she was in reception class. It was a letter all about how I am the BEST Mummy in the whole wide world, and how much she loves me.
When I asked her what the picture at the bottom of the letter was, Flea said, totally straight faced, “Oh, that’s the dog you’re going to buy me, Mummy.”Â
Now, I love dogs but at that time, our house and our lifestyle was far from being dog friendly.
At the end of 2014, though, we were finally ready. And so we looked at a few websites and breeds and in the end Flea fell in love with a little bundle of fur, who she named Teddy.
This is Teddy’s “FEED ME” face.
Mostly, Teddy likes to try and start fights with things. My socks. The post. The puppy that lives in the mirror. The cleaner’s mop.
And when she’s done fighting, she sleeps.
Luckily, Lindy’s quite keen on Teddy, who gets to spend a lot of time on work days doing this…
She’s only been with us a week, but Teddy’s settling in quite nicely.
Now, if anyone has any tips on how to persuade a small terrier that my passing feet are not an enemy to be attacked, that’d be awesome.
Teddy is so cute! The ideal working companion. I’m thinking steel toe capped boots…
Aaaw, my boots v little puppy teeth. It wouldn’t end well, would it?
I resorted to wearing wellies all the time when I had a puppy in the house. She’ll grow out of it. She’s lovely!
Top strategic thinking, I like it.
Teddy is too cute. My middle boy is very keen on a pet of some kind, he has suggested a cat or a rat, I know which one I’m leaning toward.
Ha! Cats are very self-sufficient, which is nice.
Aww! He is just adorable! He looks like a perfect addition to your household! I bet Flea is over the moon with him x
She’s being brilliant actually, lots of cuddles but she’s happy to pitch in with feeding and cleaning up, too!
How cute!! My husband would love a dog but with a 3yr old I’ve definitely got my hands full. I’ll enjoy looking in on your adventures and living vicariously though 😉 x
We are bound to be sharing a LOT of puppy spam!
You should get a pair of comedy giant dog slippers and then see Teddy’s reaction. But then again he might crap on the floor. Maybe not!
Hilarious! I suspect in a puppy/slipper fight, Teddy would win, tho.
awwww Teddy is a sweetheart! I have serious pup envy!
🙂
Ah cute! Welcome to the family Teddy.
Thanks Katie 🙂
I’ve no experience of puppies, only adult dogs, so no advice but OMG! All the cuteness!
I know, right?
awww Teddy is adorable!
Super super cute! And your daughter is one smart cookie 🙂
Ain’t she that?
A very cute new member of the family. My girls have ben asking for a puppy for ages, but with no family around and all the travelling we do I cannot see us having one sadly ;-(
Yes, it’s tricky, we negotiated house and puppy sitters before committing this time!
I know, I’m desperate for a dog and don’t want to wait for retirement or lifestyle ‘stability’! A couple of options we’ve been look at;
https://www.borrowmydoggy.com and Battersea also do dog (and pregnant cat) fostering schemes 🙂
Oh Teddy is just ‘adora-bubble’ as my 9 year old would say. Worth the wait, friend for life. I’d have liked a dog but had to compromise and go for kittens. Lindy is lucky that Teddy prefers her knee to the keyboard (can you tell I have an issue with my Stampy Cat?!)….
It’s not unusual for Lindy and Teddy to spend many a happy hour together!
I love Teddy! He makes me want a dog and then I remember I don’t do pets but he sure is cute 😉
How can you not do pets? Pfft. Buy a fish. you’ll love it.
What a cutie! I love the name teddy. Once we get settled into our new house I’m going to be getting my son a dog 🙂 can’t wait!
The name was very much a family decision, glad you approve 🙂
oh I do rather like Teddy Sally!! and that picture of you Flea drew is ace is she psychic?
I know, right? Spooky.
We recently rescued a dog too – Baxter and he’s such a fun addition to the family! If you’re anything like me Teddy has totally won you over already.
oh, completely suckered in. We’ve had a few rescue dogs over the years, how lovely of you to give Baxter a new start!
