Win a GoPro Session Camera: Review and Giveaway

Win a GoPro Session Who's the Mummy

Flea and I are huge fans of the GoPro camera range.

These tiny portable cameras shoot HD video in places you couldn’t – or wouldn’t want to – take a regular camcorder or mobile phone.

The huge range of GoPro accessories and mounts mean that you can use a GoPro hands free for pretty much any activity, in or out of the water. For the past year or so, we’ve been using the Hero 3 and Hero 3+ models, but we were recently sent the GoPro Session.

The Session is the newest GoPro and is the smallest and lightest model made to date. Like all GoPro cameras, it captures a super wide angle shot, and the quality of footage is excellent, with 1080 video and 8MP camera.  I’ve seen some people complain about the ‘fish eye’ effect on GoPro footage but this is actually fairly easy to turn off if you don’t need the ultra wide field of vision.

Here’s a video Flea shot using the GoPro session – it’s actually her riding the world’s second biggest, fastest zip wire. The quality of the image is really good, especially considering she was moving at more than 100km/hr!

One thing we really like about the GoPro Session is that it’s waterproof right out of the box – you don’t need to bother buying the casing and anti-fog inserts that you use with the other HERO models.

It’s also a bit simpler than the other GoPro models. There’s just one button rather than two. Press and hold to turn the camera on; then a short press to start and stop recording.

Once the camera is on, a long press will cause a series of still images to be taken. This takes a bit of practice to get used to – it’s very easy to think you’re shooting video, when you’re actually taking photos. It took us a little while to get the hang of it.

But you WILL need to add a floatie, as we discovered when we dropped the first Session we played with. In a lake. In France. Oops.

While our HERO 3 cameras have a red sponge floating attachment that sticks to the case, the Session uses a yellow bar that attaches via the mounting screw. It is really handy for getting more stable footage in the water.

This year, we’ve also started using the GoPro app to manage our cameras – you can connect more than one camera to the app, and it allows you to see what your camera sees – perfect for framing the shot.

I also really like using the app to view photos and video on the camera while you’re on the move. This means you can quickly share images on social media, without having to connect the GoPro to your computer and upload/edit everything.

Win a GoPro Hero 4 Session, worth £159!

We’ve had some amazing adventures with our GoPro cameras and I’m really excited to have a GoPro Hero 4 Session camera, worth £159, to give away to one reader of Who’s the Mummy.

The prize includes the camera with its casing, and the basic mount you’ll need to collect accessories, plus a battery, charging cable and adapter.

To enter, I’d like you to comment on this post and tell me what adventure you’d like to capture with a GoPro. Don’t forget to complete the widget to confirm your entry, and complete the bonus entry options for more chances to win!

The competition is open until October 1, 2016. Terms and Conditions apply, see below for full details.

I would love one to take on our first family holiday later this year. We have booked a sealife spotting trip and this would be fab for it

Amazing video! Im a fellow blogger with two little ones and I’d love to win a GoPro to capture all our mini adventures whilst if off on maternity leave this year. With two little ones its very tricky to find spaces in my usually full hands to capture all those precious and hilarious moments and a go pro would be perfect because I could just strap it on and go not having to worry about missing those moments any more 🙂 Emily
