Pass it On – for Save the Children

Portrait

Blogging is a weirdly narcissistic activity. When you blog, a good deal of your time is spent examining your own thoughts, putting them into words, and assuming they’re interesting enough to share with the world at large.

So it’s nice sometimes to remind ourselves that blogging can also be about helping other people.

Chris Mosler from Thinly Spread will soon be heading out to Mozambique with Save the Children to find out more about vaccinations and to raise awareness of the massive £4.7 billion that’s needed to provide these vital services to developing countries.

The Tots100 will be tracking Chris on her journey and reporting on her findings, which you can follow on Twitter with the hashtag #passiton but in the meantime, Red Ted Art has challenged us to help spread the word about the campaign, sign the petition, and (of course) do a bit of crafting at the same time.

Regular readers will not be surprised to know that crafting is not a regular part of the timetable in the Whittle household. I don’t deal well with mess, for starters, and I also have a complete lack of talent, ability and inclination.

However, this challenge is about asking your child to draw a self-portrait, which doesn’t seem like too much to ask. So at the top of this post, for your delight and entertainment, is a picture of me and Flea, by Flea.

We look almost identical but when I asked Flea which one was me she said it was the one with the big chest bumps. And to help you out, the one that is Flea is saying, “Hi, I’m Flea.”

I think she’s totally inherited my artistic temperament. *cough*

Anyway, I’m now going to tag 8 blogging friends to #PassItOn themselves and share self-portraits by their kids:

  • Vic at Glowstars
  • Emma at Me, the Man and the Baby
  • Pippa at A Mother’s Ramblings
  • Becky at Baby Budgeting
  • Amy at Cooking, Cakes and Children
  • Kate at the Five F’s
  • Ruth at Geek Mummy

When you’ve done your post, add it to the Linky over at Sleep is for the Weak – and all the pictures will be pulled into a Gallery, of sorts. Brilliant!
